Oni Foundation is honored to host Korean Dance expert Mary Jo Freshly from Oahu’s Halla Pai Huhm Studio for a 2-hour workshop at our Wonderful World of Aloha cultural activity center on Sunday, August 18th at 3:30pm. Mary Jo will be sharing various techniques in traditional Korean drumming and dance including the mesmerizing fan dance.

The name Halla Pai Huhm is synonymous with Korean dance in Hawaii. Halla Pai Huhm has been celebrated in Hawaiʻi and Korea for her contributions to perpetuating Korean Dance. Founded in 1950 her dance studio on Oahu is the only continuous source of Korean dance and music in the state.

Mary Jo Freshley began studying Korean dance under Halla Pai Huhm in 1962, and took over her studio in 1994 after her mentor’s passing.

We invite you to take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn from one of Hawaiʻi’s leading Korean Dance experts.

This event is recommended for children 8 and up, and need to be accompanied by an adult.
