Oni Foundation June Newsletter: Celebrating Milestones & New Treasures

Updated: Jun 17

This spring has been a season of remarkable milestones and new beginnings as we continue our mission to preserve and celebrate Maui’s rich cultural heritage. We proudly took part for the first time in the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association’s 47th Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk, with nearly 30 dedicated walkers coming together in the spirit of Aloha to raise over $9,000 in support of our cultural programs. Mahalo nui loa to everyone who walked, donated, and cheered us on—your generosity makes all the difference!

Inside this issue, discover our newest treasures: the majestic Filipino Hagabi bench, a stunning symbol of community craftsmanship and heritage, now part of our Wonderful World of Aloha museum, alongside a colorful Portuguese Madeira Flower Vendor’s costume recently added to our Origins Museum, each artifact carrying stories that connect us across oceans and generations.

We’re also excited to invite cultural artists and practitioners to join our growing family as Cultural Arts Ambassadors — helping us share traditions through workshops that honor the past while inspiring the future. Plus, learn about our new recurring giving program that supports sustainable cultural preservation, and get a sneak peek at our upcoming virtual museum tours powered by Stqry, designed to bring the magic of our collections right to your fingertips.

Last but not least, we'd like to invite you to our upcoming Migrations Performances on Sunday, July 5th or Sunday July 26th. Join us for an evening of fun and learning that supports our mission. Tickets are $49.00/person and seating is limited. Book here to reserve your seat.

Mahalo for being a vital part of this journey!
