Are you a passionate keeper of traditional arts? Do you find joy in passing down the rhythm of a drum, the steps of an ancient dance, or the intricate folds of traditional crafts? If so, the Oni Foundation wants to welcome you into our growing family. We are actively seeking skilled cultural practitioners and artists to join our team as Cultural Arts Ambassadors. Our mission is to create accessible, meaningful opportunities for both Maui residents and island visitors to learn, share, and preserve the artistic expressions that define our world.
We believe that culture is a living, breathing entity that thrives on inclusivity. Therefore, our search is open to practitioners of all backgrounds, areas of expertise, and experience levels. Whether you are a master weaver, an experienced musician, or a passionate dancer, there is a place for you to share your light. By joining our team, you will help design and lead workshops that foster mutual respect, combat cultural homogenization, and provide visitors with a deeper, more authentic understanding of the islands they visit.
Looking ahead, we are particularly excited to initiate a brand-new workshop series dedicated to traditional paper crafting. This upcoming program will explore the diverse, intricate paper arts of Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and, of course, the native traditions of Hawaii. To bring this vision to life, we need ambassadors who can guide our community through these delicate, historic techniques. If you are ready to use your talents to inspire future generations and build intercultural bridges, please head to this page to learn more and apply today.
